Flat tires, and what to do if you end up with one, is a reoccurring topic with our customers. It is easy to confuse our tires as being practically indestructible. That said, they are possibly one of the most crucial components of your vehicle as without them it is unlikely that your car will be going anywhere fast. So, when you blow out a tire, it is worthwhile to know what to do.

Before you even encounter a flat tire, be sure to equip your a vehicle with a car jack, a wrench, an air pressure gauge, and an air compressor. Preparing for a flat before one occurs can make the difference between changing your tire, and being stuck on the side of the road waiting for roadside assistance.

Your first step in fixing a flat is to use the car jack to lift the car. With the flat tire raised, use the wrench to undo the lug nuts holding it in place. Once the lug nuts are removed, remove the flat tire from the axel, and check on your spare tire. With the air pressure gauge check on your spare tire’s air pressure levels. If the spare’s air pressure is below the recommended level, use the air compressor to fill it up. Using the wrench and the spare lug nuts from your flat tire, secure the flat to your axel. Now that you’ve got four working wheels again, its time to find a trained professional.

Even after you’ve fixed your own flat, it is highly recommended that you find an auto professional who can repair or replace the flat tire, and at Motorworld Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM you can find just that. The team of technicians in our Chrysler service center are committed to excellence and will ensure your back on the road rolling smoothly.
