When you get an oil change from the expert mechanics here at MotorWorld Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM, we will likely ask what kind of oil you would like to have put in your vehicle. We know that understanding the differences between the types of oil can sometimes be difficult and confusing, as there are an overwhelming amount of options.

How could you possibly figure out which type is right for your specific make and model? Luckily, our mechanics are here to provide you with a handy guide to the different types of motor oil.

Full-Synthetic Oil

Synthetic oil is the type of oil that we most recommend at our dealership. This type of oil is manufactured entirely in a factory or a lab. It has the following advantages:

  • Cleaner pistons: Keeps pistons up to 40 percent cleaner than the toughest industry standards.
  • Better fuel economy: Better oil leads to you needing to visit the gas station less often.
  • Excellent performance in extreme temperatures: Provides faster low-temperature oil flow and protects in extreme heat.

Conventional Oil

Conventional oil is your standard motor oil. The biggest upside of this type of oil is the low cost. It is slightly less refined and offers a lower degree of protection than other types.

Synthetic Blend Oil

Also sold at our Chrysler service center is the synthetic oil blend. As you might expect, these oils are a blend of conventional oil and full-synthetic oil. While they last longer than conventional oils, they are not quite as long-lasting as full-synthetic oils.

If you have any additional questions about motor oil, feel free to ask an expert mechanic at our service center.
